Why Should the Raptors Hold on to OG Anunoby?

Meta: If the rumours are true, OG Anunoby is open to a move away from the Toronto Raptors. Should they try hard to keep their man or let him go?

According to rumours swirling around the internet that have yet to be substantiated, London-born Ogugua ‘OG’ Anunoby Jr. is open to a move away from his current team, the Toronto Raptors.

He has steadily improved as an individual, which could even see him being considered for All-Star selection. Here is a closer look at why the Raptors should try and hold onto OG for as long as possible.

Who is OG?

Ogugua Anunoby Jr (more commonly referred to by friends and the media as ‘OG’) is a 25-year-old men’s professional basketball player who currently plays for the Canadian-based Toronto Raptors, competing in the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The small forward who plays in the number 3 shirt is considered one of the best British players to ever play in the NBA. He was born in London-England, in July 1997 and he has played for the Raptors since he was the 23rd pick in round 1 of the 2017 NBA draft.

Where are the Raptors in the Eastern Conference?

The Toronto Raptors are currently in 11th position out of 15 teams in the Eastern Conference. They are above the Wizards (12th), Magic (13th), Hornets (14th) and Pistons (15th).

Can the Raptors win the NBA Championship playoffs?

To find out if the Raptors can make it to the playoffs and win, the best thing to do would be to visit sites like the official Comeon sportsbook for the latest odds. It’s not looking good for the Raptors, who are currently priced at 5,000 in American/moneyline odds. In other words, these odds are the same as 51.00 in European decimal odds and 50/1 in UK fractional odds.

Therefore, they don’t seem to have a chance of reaching the playoffs. These odds also mean they only have a 2.00% implied probability rate of winning the Eastern Conference playoffs outright. In comparison, the current odds-on favourites to win the Eastern Conference playoffs are the Boston Celtics at 180 (9/2, or 2.80) with a whopping 35.70% chance of winning.

What about the 2022/23 NBA Championship?

To win the 2022/23 NBA Championship outright, it’s looking even worse for the Raptors, who are currently only the 18th odds-on favourite to win at 10,000 (101.00, or 100/1) with only a 1.00% chance of winning. In comparison, the Boston Celtics, who are also the current odds-on favourite to win the NBA Championship outright, are priced at 400 (5.00, or 4/1), with a 20.00% chance of winning.

Final note

If you are going to place a real money wager on any upcoming NBA matches, try and remember to gamble responsibly. Never chase your losses, and try not to spend more money than you can afford. It’s much easier said than done, but it can make your online gambling experience safer and more enjoyable.

Also, to gamble for real money at fully licensed online sports betting sites like Comeon, you must be at least 18 years old. It doesn’t cost a penny to sign up to, and as soon as your new account has been activated, you can claim a guaranteed sign-up bonus.
